Located in south Charlotte, NC between the I-485 beltway and South Carolina border, Ballantyne is a pristine, upscale area which covers over 2,000 acres. Ballantyne was owned and developed in the early 1990's by the Bissell/Harris family who also developed South Park.
One of the first things most people notice when they enter Ballantyne proper are the four 30- foot monuments at the corner of Ballantyne Commons and Johnston Road. The sculptures were created by Boris Tomic, a Yugoslav artist who spent three years crafting them at a brick factory in Salisbury. The panels at the top of each monument represent technology, transportation, finance, and the human spirit of Charlotte. Helen Adams Realty has an office in Ballantyne, nestled behind the southeast monument and a grove of gingko trees at the corner of this busy intersection, in the Ballantyne Commons East Shopping Center.
Public schools in the Ballantyne area rank among the highest in the entire Charlotte-Mecklenburg System. Of course, parents also have several private school options to choose from as well. Award winners including Ardrey Kell High School are situated in the Ballantyne area.
Several Fortune 500 Companies have gained headlines by relocating their offices to Ballantyne's award-winning office parks. Companies such as MetLife and SPX are housed there currently.

The area boasts the Ballantyne Country Club community, the five-star Ballantyne Hotel, an 18-hole golf course and Ballantyne Medical Park.
The Ballantyne Community is a bustling retail center, with shops and restaurants available literally on every corner. Several high-end restaurants and shops, a theatre, and the local YMCA are conveniently located at Ballantyne Village.
